I spent the last week in Grand Rapids, Michigan, attending CAST2010 (Conference of the Association for Software Testing). It is difficult to describe the value of a conference like this. It is a collection of some of the most respected minds in software testing, of my peers and of people full of passion for the craft.
I attended an awesome workshop by Fiona Charles on ‘Speaking Truth to Power’. There were some fantastic presentations by testers from all over the globe. There were a series of lightning talks (I made one on the use of Japanese language as a learning mechanism). If that wasn’t enough, there were some excellent hallway conversations and exchange of ideas and the opportunity to meet some very talented minds. I met old friends, and many people with whom I had exchanged emails, but never met. It was all over far too soon and I am very much looking forward to the next one.
If you only attend one testing conference in 2011, I urge you in the strongest possible terms to make it CAST2011.
Here is what some other attendees had to say about CAST2010
